documenting stories of Blackness
in kitchens across the African diaspora

my very first memory is of being in the kitchen with my father, watching him cook. since then i’ve been fascinated by how Black folks use food as a means of storytelling + cultural preservation. how we know, intrinsically, that cooking is more than food. it is a ritual. an art form. a love language. a means of both honoring our histories + ensuring our futures.

no matter how far i am from home, cooking + eating with Black folks makes me feel seen, loved + free. it takes me right back to the beginning, peeking from under the kitchen table awed + hungry.
